Congratulations Dr Paul, @thesamasher and others for coming up with this pioneering work. I have just read the full article and it may need some more readings to grasp the article in a full manner. Right now, I am apprehensive about headlines like 'There is no discrimination'. https://twitter.com/paulnovosad/status/1348674017201451014
Such headlines could be used as a final judgment on the discrimination against the Indian Muslims. Muslims are in Jail (twice or thrice than their population share) bcz they face bail problem. Here the outcome variable does not present this scenario.
The class, social-network are some other critical issues. I know there is no data on such variables. One more important thing is that even before the judicial process, there may be enough chances that police may make a strong case against a Muslim accused. The point is that+
the discrimination may start taking place at the initial stage. I wish this study will be complemented by some ground-level data.
Other than the Sachar (2006), there are some more reports like the Mishra Commission, Mehmoodur Rahaman Committee, Kundu Committee Report.++

Although the govt appointee committees always have limitations. Glad that you people r coming out with such focused work. Books on this issue cover a wide range of topics & are not focused.
It is somehow awkward to mention books to senior researchers of the field but still, ++
