Noem, who believes kids are being indoctrinated with leftist ideologies in schools, wants to create school curriculum where the "key objective needs to be explaining why the United States of America is the most special nation in the history of the world."
Noem wants to teach kids critical thinking, debate and civil engagement skills.

At the same time she wants schools to explain the subjective opinion/conclusion that America is the best country in the world.
Here's the relevant text from her speech:
Noem: "I have tasked my administration with creating instructional materials and classroom resources on America’s founding, our nation’s history, and the state’s history."

I wonder what facts or events she wants to add or take away from the curriculum.
I went to wonderful public K-12 schools and then to a private college. My teachers taught us facts, critical thinking skills and analytical skills. They sometimes shared their opinions but did not tell us what to think. We did papers where we had to argue our own or a given POV.
Creating history curriculum is hard because there is so much to fit in within a limited teaching timeframe. I learned about events I found to be very significant in college that I didn't learn about in high school. This still happens to me today, I'm a lifelong learner.
