Do you want to know how I avoided getting covid from my positive symptomatic roommate with whom I share a bathroom? Because I knew about an NYC program where anyone who tests positive and can't fully quarantine can get a free hotel room + meals. PLEASE share this, New Yorkers.
For anyone who may use this program, note that it did take about ten hours from her initial call to the hotline to when she could be picked up. The hotline is open 9am-9pm at 844-692-4692. This could literally save so many lives when someone in a big household tests positive.
To everyone quote tweeting this and tagging your city/state gov’t demanding a similar program in your area:
Full info on the program can be found here. I learned about this from an ad on ig lmfao. An EXTREMELY small number of those infected have gone into the hotel program. In a city where almost everyone lives with other people, please please please do this https://www1.nyc.gov/site/helpnownyc/get-help/covid-19-hotel-program.page
Also to everyone qrting this pointing out that this just shows how our local gov’t DOES have the capacity to mobilize and provide housing to those in need, illustrating vividly the failure to provide resources those experiencing homelessness: you’re right and you should say it.
I've learned from this thread that actually MANY other cities/towns have similar hotel isolation/quarantine programs! If you haven't already, get familiar with the Health Department where you live, give a google to "<city> covid hotel program" and SHARE the info w neighbors!!
