Christians agree that God is sovereign - he is in control. Even so, recent events are forcing us to actively embrace God’s sovereignty, not just passively affirm it.
This thread flows out of what God is teaching me, but I hope it also strengthens the faith of Christians who read it. This is not a time for fear, but confidence in God and hopefulness in what He is doing.
When we are tempted to fear, God reminds us that he hasn’t forgotten even a single sparrow. And not a single hair from your head, or anyone’s head for that matter, is forgotten by him. The conclusion - “Fear not” (Luke 12:7).
Or consider Joseph. Betrayed by his brothers. Sold into slavery. Removed from a faith-filled environment and placed in a pagan land. If we’re comparing reasons to be afraid, our current situation doesn’t hold a candle to his.
His response, over and over was this: “God sent me here.” (Get. 45:5, 7, 8) Further, God sent him to accomplish a good that was entirely impossible to see on the front end - the preservation of life (Gen. 45:5) and specifically the preservation of a remnant for Israel (Gen. 45:7)
So then, what was humanly driven by evil, God was overriding for good (Gen. 50:20). Friends, do not be afraid. God is in control. Whatever is motivated by evil, he is using for good.
That’s a truth you can take to the bank and rest your entire life on. Build your the foundation of your life on the rock, not the sand.
This is a serious throwback, but maybe it’s exactly what you need to help re-focus your mind today.
