The "they didn't teach me this in seminary" thing is usually silly, but we really do not spend enough time talking about the way power so often deceives and corrupts people. And how that affects the tiny church pastor just as much as the megachurch pastor with a book deal.
I used to live with counseling students. Their classes talked a lot about how the unique authority they would have over people was also potentially dangerous. I rarely heard the same thing about spiritual authority, about how horribly we could hurt people without realizing it.
I don't know where you fit that in the curriculum.

I just...there has to be some reason that so many of the leaders who learned the same things I'm learning now about integrity and compassion and TRUTH are denying them with their words and actions years after they graduate.
