Number one: Night Moves.

A great dark thriller directed by the criminally unknown Kelly Reichardt, it follow three radical environmentalists who...
2. decided to try to blow up a dam in the Pacific Northwest. Reichardt turns the classic "terrorist thriller" movie on it's head (think Black Sunday) by focusing not on the action but on the characters and how they sort of talk themselves into their insane plan...
3. Also good reminder that once you've decided to go into these sorts of acts you can't just walk away, and your "great reward" isn't what you think it was going to be: outstanding cast too: Jesse Eisenberg, Dakota Fanning, Peter Sarsgaard, Alia Shawkat and more...
4. The Weather Underground a 2002 documentary about the said left-wing extremist/terrorist group from the 60s and 70s. Just an excellent film that blends archival footage and interviews to tell a really compelling narrative...

6. Some went to prison for the rest of their lives, others became well-known academics, another guy owns a bar. How they largely became disillusioned in the mid-70s is also good stuff...
7. Four Lions.

I guess this movie was never popular in the US but I think it's a pretty hilarious satire of Islamic extremism in the UK. Maybe people found it offensive? Either way I think it's good "the CIA can't trace you if you eat your sim card!" etc etc End
