1. I don’t know where the misinformation is coming from in LA about “leftover/unused doses” of the vaccine but lemme tell you what’s up from the front lines:
Each vial of Moderna, contains 10 doses. They only open a vial if they think they’ll use the whole thing.

2. Here at our site they are given enough vaccines for however many appointments that are made. So if there are “extra” it’s because someone didn’t show up. Those doses don’t go to waste! Either they don’t open a new vial, or they vaccinate us on the team that’s administering.
3. I know this is scary and frustrating, but for real we are working so damn hard at getting to as many people as we can. If anything is messed up it’s on the federal level. Also, in six days of being here I’ve seen ZERO people have reactions to the shot. Don’t be scared!
4. Here’s an example: Today we had 9 doses left at the end of the appointments. And I mean 9 left on site, meaning we went through every single vial we had. They are getting used. We throw nothing away, we just can only give out what we are physically given from the city.
5. This is all to say: Please be patient and kind to those working these vaccination and testing sites. We’re outside the whole time in the hot sun for 8-10hrs, with people screaming in our faces. It’s, um, not optimal, but we love you and are doing the best we can.

6. One more thing!
If you know someone that’s elderly getting a vaccine, please try & bring them to a drive up testing site like Dodger Stadium. Our site you have to park and physically get out of the car and stand in line, very difficult when someone is born in the 1930s.
