The Phil Spector thing is tricky. Yes, he’s a murderer and an abuser. And not just whispered about, but fully convicted and sent to prison. But to ignore his career as one of the most important musical figures of the modern age is disingenuous to reporting. Language is key.

This is about *news reportage*. He was an evil man and what he did to Lana Clarkson should never be forgotten. But to just wave a magical wand and pretend he’s just an ordinary guy from the street does nothing to help us understand how society allowed people like this to persist.
