In the twentieth century, Stoicism inspired a family of schools of effective psychotherapy called cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
Stoicism’s basic tenets can be distilled into three major topics:
1. live according to nature,
2 three-disciplined practice, and

The three disciplines:
1. desire,
2. action,
3. assent.
The Discipline of Desire - what is best to want (or to avoid)
The Discipline of Action -how to act in the social sphere.
And the Discipline of Assent - arrive at correct judgments about obstacles that life throws at us
