THE DARKNESS OF FAIRY TALES

1. CINDERELLA
Most of us know the story of Cinderella, a poor girl who was mistreated by her stepfamily.

In the end she stole a prince's heart, married him, and then lived happily ever after.

As it turns out, the original version of the beautiful story is dark in tone. +
In a story we don't know about, Cinderella's shoes are made of not glass, but squirrel fur.

Not only are the step sisters said to have feet that don't fit into their shoes, but they cut off parts of their bodies to fit them in.+
There is even another version which tells of some doves that gouged out the eyes of Cinderella's step sisters because of their evil nature.
2. PINOCCHIO

In the early version of the story Pinocchio, the doll hits a hammer on Jiminy Cricket until the insect is crushed. But Pinocchio is said to have no regrets at all.

Even worse, after Gepetto turned him from a puppet to a human,
Pinocchio ran away and spread the rumor that Gepetto had been cruel to him.

The poor grandfather was then thrown in prison.
In the end, Pinocchio is caught and hung from a tree because of all his actions.
3. SLEEPING BEAUTY

In the early version of the story, Sleeping Beauty goes into a coma after being infected by a pinch of hemp tucked under a nail.

Her father could not accept the fact and laid her on one of the beds in the house hoping for a miracle.
Then, when a king passed and met her body, the father seemed to get the answer to his wish.

The king realized that the woman was unconscious and instead raped her and returned to his kingdom.

Sleeping Beauty was pregnant and gave birth even though she was unconscious+
One of the babies accidentally sucked a piece of hemp tucked under the nail, causing Sleeping Beauty to wake up.

Hearing that his true love awakens and lives, the king burns his wife to death so that he can be with Sleeping Beauty+
There was even almost cannibalism.
Before the king's wife is burned, she tries to kill and eat Sleeping Beauty's babies.
4. SNOW WHITE

According to Grimm's version of the storyline, the evil queen is Snow White's birth mother or Snow White.

She sent several hunters to kill her daughter and take Snow White's lungs and liver to eat.+
In a refined version, Snow White is described as fast asleep.
However, in the original story, she died from a poisoned apple slice stuck in her throat.

The prince ordered his servants to dispose of her body.+
However, while the servants were carrying the coffin containing Snow White's body, it fell down.

The shock causes the poison apple slice to choke out and Snow White comes back to life.+
When her evil mother becomes an unwelcome guest at Snow White's wedding, she is forced to wear molded iron boots to death.

Not only that, In several other versions, Snow White is even said to be prostituted by the Seven Dwarfs.
5. HENSEL AND GRETEL

The earliest French version of Hansel and Gretel is known as "The Lost Children"

The story tells of a demon who lives in a small house with his wife.
He wanted to injure the children to the point of bleeding on the sawmill.+
On the other hand, his wife is not a violent person and even tries to help the children.

After the children understood the devil's intentions, they pretended not to know and got on the sawmills.
Satan asked his wife to help ride the horses.+
The children took the opportunity to slit the wife and run away with the devil's money.
6. Little Red Riding Hood.

Each version of Little Red Riding Hood has a unique story about what happened between the wolf and the girl.

In the early versions, the grandmother and the wolf are the same figure.
In another version, Red convinces the wolf to eat the grandmother because Red is the only heir to the old woman's treasure.

But there is one very disturbing version that tells how Red used her body to save herself.
She is said to have had sex with the wolf.
7. The Little Mermaid
@MrLoveS_Queen

In the original story by Hans Christian Andersen, the mermaid is described as having legs and walking.
But all of that is paid a heavy price.

Every step made felt like walking over 1000 sharp daggers. +
Not only that, if the prince didn't choose her, the woman would die and turn into foam in the sea.

The prince finally married another woman.
In order to save the mermaid, the siblings exchange their hair for a magic dagger from a witch in the ocean.+
If the mermaid kills the prince and allows the blood to flow to the mermaid's feet, it will regrow her fin and run into the sea.

But she realized that she could not bear to kill the prince so that the mermaid died alone and without love.
8. The Goose Girl

In the original story, a female servant stole a princess's identity to trick a prince into marrying her.

Her ploy was caught by a talking horse, so the servant killed the horse to cover up her crimes.+
The real princess, who is now forced to become a slave, works as a duck shepherd.

She then received justice when the servant who stole her identity was put in a barrel filled with thorns, naked and then rolled until she died.
9. Hercules

In the original mythology, Zeus is known for his perverted behavior. He does not respect the sanctity of marriage and deceives women into sleeping with him.

Several times he is depicted as a serial rapist who has no respect for humans.+
Many suspect that he was called father by all the other gods out of respect for him, but it is more likely that he was called father for raping all the women he knew.
10. Pied Piper

At first, Pied Piper was hired by the mayor to work on the rat problem. He herded the rats into the ocean and returned to town to collect their reward.

It turned out that the mayor had no intention of paying in full. +
In retaliation, Pied Piper led the town's little children out into the ocean until they all drowned.

This story sounds terrible, but the story is actually based on tragedy that happened in the 13th century.
