A cool thing is that Digital Ocean lets you do one click setups of droplets installing apps. If you really worry about censorship and tech tyranny you should realize that it's actually pretty easy to self-host alternatives for all the webapps you use on your own private server
Buying a domain is cheap. And you can install these apps as subdomains on self-hosted site. For chat for example you can pick from apps like Discourse, Mastodon, Matrix, Mattermost. Mattermost is identical to Slack. You literally don't need Telegram, Whataspp, or Signal at all
You can also install Ampache, Emby, Jellyfin, Koel, Navidrome. Navidrome or Koel is your own self-hosted private spotify, streaming your music library from an always-on server to any device. Emby is similar, but can serve up movies/shows to your tv to replace Netflix
Pixelfed can replace imgur. Nextcloud can replace Dropbox. searx can replace google search. You can install torrent clients. You can install Ghost to self-publish/blog. This is all free, and opensource, and its all totally controlled and owned by you on your own private server.
You do not need to know any coding or terminal stuff to set this up. It's literally one-click install and Digital Ocean creates a server for you and automatically installs the app which can be run like any webapp simply by visiting your domain name through your browser.
I just think it's cool. Just want to let people know how incredibly easy this is to do. If you really live in fear of being 'censored' or 'canceled' you can just go do this right now in 30 minutes and put all the apps you use under your own control. There's nothing stopping you
