TheGuardianAngelThread: I am having a conversation with a friend of mine about Guardian Angels and Idlozi. It's my 2cents but I might be wrong. The term Guardian Angel is intertwined with religious language.
Meaning before we were introduced to the Christian religion that term am sure was non-existent. In Isixhosa we say amanye amagama ngawemboleko (some words are borrowed words) from different languages and religions.
We cannot deny the fact that some words we use are borrowed words from the religious fraternity. In my narrow understanding, Guardian Angel is Isithunywa; Isithunywa seZulu.
It does not necessarily mean ingelosi as a direct translation. This suggests Isithunywa seZulu is the Guardian Angel. Amadlozi sometimes uses a language that already exists in our minds besides the poetic one to convey a message.
Spirituality does not have black consciousness and people who have approached spirituality with a black consciousness mind have often failed to decipher things.
Bricklayers, herdsmen, etc working for black people in villages even townships some of them still use the phrase “umlungwam or umlungu” when referred to their black bosses.
My dad used to call me Van Da Walt growing up saying ndizabalibhulu elimnyama, ndizaziphangelela when I get old. Umlungu omnyama is loosely translated as a white, black person.
By virtue of you having money, you are called a black person in a white man’s skin if my interpretation is anything to go by.
Therefore, ancestors in such people because of the phrase engraved subconsciously and consciously in their minds its possible, it has happened to some of them when they have dreams of prosperity, luck, money, new opportunities they dream white people.
In their minds, white people are associated with wealth just like in modern times they still control the economy. The very same people due to social learning and what they have done to black people in the past.
Some ancestors can associate white people with impundulu/isilwane, banezibindi zenyoka, “uyinyoka bani ngaze umthembe”. This then suggests some isilwane, impundulu, or evil can be portrayed in a dream through dreaming about white people.
Before I deflect to my original point of Guardian Angels, after this analysis it is then possible because of religious influence and the ancestor that fused religion and culture we call today Isithunywa that the real Guardian Angel is Idlozi we classfy as Isithunywa.
Meaning there is no such thing as a guardian angel outside the context of Idlozi. It is possible that you might dream of a guardian angel but is it really a guardian angel o isisithunywa/Idlozi lakho is using already what has been engraved in your mind to convey a message.
Remember it is the same Amadlozi who makes us dream, irrespective of you believe it or not. In social and spiritual analysis there is what we call a pattern. There is nothing new under the sun.
Meaning if a Guardian Angel exists outside the context of Idlozi/Isithunywa then surely, they should be a pattern of similar dreams from different people who have dreamed exactly how an angel looks like, etc. Just like there is a pattern in dreamville etc.
Even if we say Idlozi does not exist but we cannot deny the proven pattern of people dreaming about Idlozi, going to thwasa for Idlozi, thousands of people having similar signs.
There is a pattern and I have not seen this pattern in Guardian Angels outside the context of Isithunywa/Idlozi. The pattern is inconclusive right now of people dreaming about a real Guardian Angel.
That is my 2 cents, am willing to be schooled kule case. Is there a difference between a Guardian Angel and Idlozi? How do you differentiate a Guardian angel? Is it a Guardian angel because already it has been engraved in your mind that such exist?
