Following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. the Coca Cola Company realized that, as one of the nation's most culturally significant brands, they had a role to play in taking a stand against racism.
So the company produced "Boys on a Bench", an iconic shot captured by photographer Jay Maisel in New York City.
Look closely at the setting - the boys are gathered on a segregated bench.
Look even closer. Their knees are touching.

Remember, in 1969, this was all completely taboo.
