Do not sell James Robinson
(mini-late night thread)
James Robinson was an absolute beast his rookie year. People are afraid of them bringing in another back, or the draft capital, but here’s why none of that should scare you!
James Robinson had a huge rookie season, piling up over 1070 yards and 7 TDs, while also catching 49 catches for 344 yards and 3 TDs. He was RB7 in PPR leagues, and now heads into an offense that is likely to be led by Trevor Lawrence.
Trevor Lawrence loved his check down in college, and seeing Robinson’s pass catching ability progress the way it did over the course of his rookie year, I can see Robinson becoming a big safety valve for Lawrence, giving him a relatively safe floor.
Since 2017, RBs w/ a +85% RB opportunity share

89% 2017 Bell
88% 2017 Zeke
90% 2018 Zeke
86% 2018 Gurley
92% 2019 CMC
90% 2019 Fournette
89% 2019 Saquon
85% 2020 Robinson
Robinson saw huge opportunities, but not many people such a major workload. Top talents seem to get the work
Seeing this workload continue is probably not going to happen, although it should stay relatively close to the same. Will they bring in a back to help relieve some pressure off Robinson? Sure. Will he vulture important production for Robinson? No.
James Robinson is an absolute steal at his draft position and was a steal as a UDFA. I really like Robinson heading into 2021, especially with Lawrence being his future QB.
