It's now common place for some landowners in certain parts of to demand cars from property investors rather than cash in exchange for land.

How it works is that the investor/buyer gets a plot of land or more in exchange for a car. The landowners get a car of equivalent value.

The answer is no!

The buyer and seller are free to agree on whether payment for the land will be in cash or some other valuable item.
