Just got off the phone with a longtime Black NFL executive who is outraged about what’s occurring. On the same day another young, white OC gets a HC job (Eagles), the Lions introduced their new HC, who talked about biting off kneecaps or something. Meanwhile, a former Lions
position coach, who was fired after having several alcohol offenses during the 2006 preseason, is working to rebuild his reputation as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars staff. That would be the guy who showed up naked at the fast-food restaurant. Look, in most situations,
I’m all for second chances. Let he who is without sin and such. But people on this platform are writing that Eric Bieniemy is damn near Nino Brown because of incidents in his past. Even though the last of these incidents occurred 20 years ago and Bieniemy, by all accounts,
has set a great example while contributing so much to the Chiefs’ success, he somehow doesn’t deserve to move forward. The double standard is palpable. The anger within the game is beyond a crises level. This just isn’t sustainable.
