Working for a funder, it is an honour to support organisations tirelessly working to support the health and wellbing of our older people. Here are just a few examples of some those organisations who have stepped during the pandemic. 1/n
@CalthorpeCG has posted 100's of 'Growing from Home' kits enabling older people to grow herbs and other plants at home. It created a community of people sharing gardening tips and hints on Whatsapp. It also delivered 3020 hot meals in the first lockdown. 2/n
@TheCaresFamily has connected 6,653 younger and older people through digital means, with 865 social clubs. In addition, there have been 15,000 check in and well being calls for older people in the year. 5/n https://vimeo.com/493668531
@AgeUKSutton sent out 471 activity packs and made regular calls to 450 older people, as well as providing a free food and essentials service, including a door step chat. It also took on 55 befriending volunteers during the first lockdown. https://www.ageuk.org.uk/sutton/  6/n
@dragonhall and @7DialsClub set up and ran a food bank for local residents, as well as moving all of their older people social clubs online. When safe to do so they held a meal for their members 7/n -
@reengageuk set up a completely new telephone befriending service supporting 6,826 older people and training 7,500 volunteers. "The calls are like a little ray of sunshine in an otherwise dark time." 10/n https://reengage.org.uk/
A small selection of work from my narrow perspective (apologies to all the organisations I have missed). To me it shows the value of a strong voluntary sector and the incredible passion, skill and hard work of the people who work in it. End of thread.
