#WhiteSox remaining goals for the offseason (in no particular order):

1 - Starting Pitcher
2 - DH/LH Bat/Utility player
3 - Lucas Giolito extension
4 - Relief project
5 - Vet catcher
1 - SP

There will be vet FA deals in Feb/March for those who wait. Sox have been working the trade front. The rumored Burnes trade seems very unlikely - just a very difficult framework for both teams.

One source expects the #WhiteSox to bring in Adam Wainright. And maybe soon.
2 - DH/UTIL/bat

This is the most interesting "hole" to me. First off - to be clear - the Sox love Andrew Vaughn. They are content penciling him in to handle 1B/DH for most of the year. However, the one exception for the Sox acquiring a full time DH would be Nelson Cruz.
2 - DH/UTIL/bat cont.
There is mutual interest between the #WhiteSox and Cruz but there is separation between the parties on the length of a potential commitment. Cruz wants multiple years guaranteed. The Sox are more comfortable with the Hahn Special - 1+1 (club option).
2 - DH/UTIL/bat cont.
If Sox don't come to terms w/ Cruz, I'm curious which lesser option they turn to (if any). They would likely use the DH spot to rest/rotate regulars prior to Vaughn's arrival. La Stella seems wishful (playing time). Marwin Gonzalez has been on their radar.
3 - Giolito extension
Can't speak to the status here but Sox front office has typically made good use of the month of March for extending their young assets. Giolito was a big bonus 1st rounder, comes from money and is rep'd by a big agency in CAA. May not be an easy task.
4 - Relief Project
While fans would like the Sox to finish off the pen w/ someone like Keone Kela or Greene, I think they go lesser $. They like their track record w/ guys like Swarzak, Marshall, etc. Brandon Workman or Daniel Bard would be two potential upside bargain bin plays.
5 - Veteran Catcher
GM Rick Hahn made comments earlier in the offseason about the Sox being comfortable with Collins/Zavala/Mercedes as the back up catcher. I'll call bluff there. Wouldn't expect anything exciting, but I would expect a vet backstop on a MiLB deal.
Past that, I would hope the Sox bring in some depth in the OF. Coming off the COVID season, there really is no reason to have confidence relying on the Gonzalez/Adolfo/Rutherford glut even as depth. Eloy/Eaton both injury risks. Personally, I would like Ben Gamel or Tyler Naquin
