During this time where our reality seems to be increasing existing via a phone screen. We need to be mindful that social media is in fact NOT reality.

It's a veneer of truth and a curated mirage of elevated appeal.
We've never had this combination of isolation and a hyper-presence of technology before.

We need to be conscious of the unknown impact of what it may be doing to our minds, how we view the world and how we see each other.
Radicalization, conspiracy theory, misinformation, social media beef, cancellation, dragging, political polarity and gossip, all have real world implications when the line between true reality and implied reality is blurred.
We've seen enough people lose their lives in recent years because of toxic internet narratives.

Can we actually learn from these mistakes & move forward in a way where social media is used to build community, not enact harm on each other?
We need to learn to deal with our traumas, especially as marginalised communities, rather than substitute healing with distraction or projection.

We need to break the cycle of abuse that far too many of us are comfortable existing within.
I'm no psychiatrist, but whilst it's clear that this lockdown is needed, we also need to be aware of the impact this traumatic time is having on our minds and how we treat each other.

We can't wait for another tragedy to occur to start saying "be kind" again.
I'm not perfect, neither are any of you, we all slip up, we're all guilty of participating in toxic online behaviours at some point.

But we can BEGIN to make a change at any point, remove ourselves from situations and be conscious of the fact that we are all HUMAN.
