I’ve never cared for political street parades, marches, etc., since it’s an exercise of visual theater to show the power & number of the marchers. It’s a horrible way to do things in a functioning democracy since it’s not a reasoned debate, instead it’s the showing of our (1/3)
political army vs the other side. It’s away of doing politics that relies on intimidation of that visual power. Of course it’s a necessary act when fighting against a system that denies the franchise (dictatorships — like Russia today or against the Jim Crow laws) to all, or (2/3
some. But in a functioning democracy, like ours, these marches generally evolve into mayhem (the looting over the summer & storming of the capital). One of Trump’s worse aspects is he loved this style of politics as long as he was the one in front of the crowd.
