honestly it depends.
y’all forget that people who do that, regardless of age, are attracted to it because they come from extreme poverty, have limited opportunities & this is a chance to earn A LOT of money VERY FAST.
like..
that documentary i watched 2-3 months ago.. https://twitter.com/no__oms/status/1353466125561040898
lot of underage prostitutes, or prostitutes that started at 12-14 yo, & none of them had regrets.
don’t get me wrong, they never said it was a fairy tale, they just, didn’t have any regrets & didn’t feel groomed either because they needed the money.
some of them have been able to build a better life for themselves from that.
sex work is an EXTREMELY layered topic. we do have grooming, forced labor even, unfortunately. we have a lot of extremely problematic things in that area.
but if we are going to look at sex work—
& young women / underage girls, we NEED, to look at our society as a whole. there is a whole lot of whole lot of things to say about how, what, why.. but this is Twitter so i will keep it short & simply say this :
if we had universal basic income this wouldn’t be a problem.
young women doing OF is only the cherry on top of the “poor & struggling” cake. we live in a society that abuses women. shames them for their sexual choices. if families knew about many of these girls doing or wanting to do sex work,
they could be disowned.
in this digital age being naked on the net can be something that never goes away from the collective, public memory.
& you think that young women go in there for fun? or that they just unconsciously fell into it bc of being groomed?
society grooms women on all levels. that being said, in most cases, starting sex work at a young age is caused by poverty more than it is by grooming, as, i repeat, society is grooming women on all levels anyway.
2 weeks ago ppl were on here claiming the most beautiful—
woman of the world is a baby faced 19 years old girl. yup. that’s your beauty standard in 2021, a woman that isn’t even 21. see the world we live in? so yea, to get back at sex work & young women, grooming is NOT the prime issue, poverty is.
i have to insist on this,
because if we are going to address this we need to have a REAL conversation that uncovers ALL OF THE LAYERS AT PLAY.
also something that i forgot to say earlier about testimonies of these young girls in this documentary, most were lying about their age & pretending to be grown.
one even said that some clients be insisting like “are you sure? you look pretty young 🤨” & they would insist on lying about their age.
all of this to say, that these young girls were lying because THEY NEEDED, N E E D E D the money.
waiting to be older for what, when you need to get out of scarcity HERE & NOW?
