If you write a paper or whatever about country X and don't cite a single author from country X how can you expect me not to question your motives?
Like what makes a person living in illinois want to get on a plane and dedicate their time to studying people in Accra if they can't name a single Ghanaian intellectual? What is wrong with you people? I'm seriously asking
There are people out there who build their careers on being "Africa experts" while having zero respect for African intellectual production. Can't name a poet, can't cite a single scholar - never step foot on the campus of a local university.
Just whip out the skull calipers and be done with it
Imagine if I wrote a paper about the U.S. and didn't name a single American author. Didn't even cite a North American scholar. That. Is. Fucking. Nuts.
You realize we have intellectuals...right? And universities, and professors and scholars and researchers and ways of knowledge production that are even beyond the scope of what English can describe.
No. They just put on their socks and their flip flops and walk around our cities talking only to hotel staff and their personal taxi driver they call "Archie" or whatever the fuck; and they "gather evidence" and fly back to America and get awards for "advancing theory"
Just open your paper with the truth of the matter.

"In this article, I advance social science theory by going on holiday in the African tropics, and then while there realizing there is no scholarship; the natives are illiterate and I am superior in every way imaginable."
Guys, I'm not joking. I saw a paper about Ghana that cited over 30 people; not a single African (54 countries!) author, nobody from Ghana's 18 universities. Closest thing is a report about the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya written in 1965. But the World Bank appears 14 times.
At this point just name your paper "N*****s are stupid" and be done with it. Let's stop with the pretense of making any real contribution to humanity. Just be your true self.
There's even a uniform! You'll fit right in.
