Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, for your consideration. started her presidential campaign on Jan. 25, 1972. she was for equality & education but most politicians are not anti-imperialist, so im not sure if her win wouldve been anything but a historic moment.
black folks made terrific political strides during Reconstruction only to sabotaged by white supremacy, our gains eroded until even simply voting was a life-threatening hardship.

im reminded of Hercules (not that one!), George Washington's favorite slave who was elevated by his baking skills to head of the white house kitchen: what an honor; the highest level in america for any african in america to achieve—
top chef to the american president.

what honor is it for us to be black & lauded in america? what are we achieving that is any different than Hercules achieved? caretakers in a system that hates us to its core....
in response to the election of Barack mainstream america made white insurgency a top concern over white privilege within the systems of white supremacy. 70 mil showed out for trump in 2016. trump was a clown who mocked decency. then 74 mil showed up for him in 2020.
they stormed the gates on his behalf, disappointed that they could not achieve their desired results.
nothing the black politician legislates, practical or progessive, will ever impact white supremacy in such a way as to hinder its core objective: allowing us room to be head mammy to its children, but never matriarch to its household.
in charge of keeping up with the kitchen silverware of white supremacy, then made to make-do using sticks as utensils for ourselves.
dont get me wrong—progress is a wonderful, beautiful thing... but what are we progressing into? a system that stunts our achievements at every turn? or a system that loves us and allows us to enlighten the entire world?
