Alright here it is my yeezus review/ breakdown. I have been working on this for hours. Likes and rt’s are greatly appreciated. All art is either done by me or pics from the tour.
Yeezus Review- A Beautiful Evil

Yeezus sees Kanye at his most extreme. His ego is through the roof and he is hungry for the title of greatest artist ever. Kanye has just come off of 2 of his most maximalist albums ever. (Watch the throne and MBDTF) to follow these up he takes a
complete 180 into a new world with his most experimental sound ever.

At this point in his career kanye rightfully has a massive uncontrollable ego. He truely believes he is a god in the field of music. He has survived deadly accident, a musical shift, and a public cancelling.
TRACK 1: On Sight (10)
This brings us to the first track. On sight. This song is not as much as a song as much as it is a statement. The album opens with rhythmless sounds that come together coherently about 15 seconds in. Kanye proclaims “YEEZUS SEASON APPROACHING” as if him
dropping any work is an occasion that needs preparation. The song continues with some of Yeezy’s most out there lyrics. To a listener in 2013 they must have believe Kanye has lost it. Then the theme on the album comes through when he says “How much do I not give a fuck, lemme
show you right now fore you give it up.” Then we are hit with a heavenly instrumental. Kanye is telling people he take make the maximalist music that brought him out of his biggest controversy if he wants, but he does not. He shapes his music and at large the industry.
Track 2: Black Skinhead (10)
“For my theme song” is the line that opens this song. Kanye is saying how he feels on this song. He talks about feeling like being black balled by the industry, being clowned for going into fashion, and being alienated for being with Kim.
They see a black man with a white women at the top floor, they go come to kill King Kong” he tackles the issue of self hating/ race hating and his own personal experience with it. He ends the song by repeating the word god over and over again leading into the next track
Track 3: I am a God (10)

Kanye is reintegrating the message he has been trying to get across the whole album. He does not know anyway else to get his point across then to lay it out for everyone to here. We hear his message over one of the most daunting and dark instrumentals
on the album. Kanye hits us with one of his most head on and hard hitting verses ever. “Soon as they like you make em unlike you, cus kissin peoples ass is so unlike you, the only rapper compared to micheal, so here’s a few hatin ass to fight you” No one is a threat to kanye.
He willingly chooses to be a villain on yeezus. He compares himself to the king of pop, basically saying just like this album he is genre defying and can’t be tied to just a rapper. He goes wherever he wants. He is a god. On the next verse he touches on his religion saying that
Jesus is the most high but Kanye is close. Kanye is close to perfection. He closes the track w a scream that is seeing on every following Kanye album after yeezus.
Track 4: New Slaves (10)

Kanye once again attacks racism on the song new slaves. Kanye opens the song attacking the stereotype the black people are either poor or irresponsible with money. He is saying that racism still thrives through this day even if is internalized and no
amount of money can fix that. You can try to do whatever you want but at the end of the day people will still see skin color judge. On the bridge to the next verse Kanye proclaims “there is leaders and there’s followers but I’d rather be a dick than a swallower.”
He saying he will never follow trends no matter how it makes him look. Then we get into what Kanye has claimed to be the greatest rap verse ever. He talks about sketchy and illusive contracts to corporations trying to control. Kanye says he knows that people are taking advantage
of him and other artist in the industry. He is frustrated and says he is going to wildin out. The song then ends with a beautiful outro sang over by frank ocean.
Track 5: Hold my liquor (10)

This song opens with a verse from chief keef talking about how he is not able to be controlled especially when under the influence. This memo gets carried to Kanye’s verse. Kanye is murmuring off a story telling little prices at a time getting
increasingly more descriptive. He both opens and closes the verse by saying “Bitch I’m back out my coma” this song also sees one of best rap beats of all time. The underlying build up throughout the song gives it a sense of scale and chilling atmosphere. The beat is something
next level. I feel elevated every time I hear it. Mike Dean is a genius. This is Kanye’s best song in my opinion.
Track 6: I’m in it (10)

After Kanye proclaims that he can not hold his liquor (his tongue) Kanye talks about his lustful tendencies. This song is wild uncontrollable and all over the place. The feature on this song adds some crazy energy.
All around one of the most hype, out there, and crazy songs I have ever heard.
Track 7: Blood on the Leaves
Kanye opens this song talking about wanting something that he can’t buy over a chilling sample. We then learn that what Kanye wants is love. “these bitches surrounding me, all want some thing out of me, then go talk about me” he talks about being
used by women in the past and wanting someone that wants him for him. He tells a story about thinking he is in love when having fun times but that’s all they wanted was fun times. In the next verse kanye talks about being sued for his money. He then talks about his fear of being
stuck in a relationship where he doesn’t love the other person. “To all my second string bitches tryin get a baby... I don’t give a damn if u use to talk to jay z he ain’t w u he w Beyoncé u need to stop acting lazy... all in on that alimony yeah yeah she got you homie, til
death do you part, unholy matrimony.” He ends the song by sayin “no waitin for the summer rose” Great song about Kanye’s fear of being used and stuck in a relationship he does not want to be in.
Track 8: Guilt Trip
This song is about Kanye’s guilt in realizing he does not love the person he is in a relationship. He talks about how there lives are separate on the first verse. “She livin hers I’m livin mine” on the second verse he begins making excuses to why there
relationship didn’t work. Questions if it is because they were never meant to be together “feelin lied to like your parents never said you adopted...onto the next saga, focus on the future and let the crew knock her” cudi plays the other role in the song. He feels like he is
being left for no reason. He thinks things are going great and that love is strong but a relationship is to way. This is why Kanye feels so guilty in leaving this alleged person.
Track 9: send it up

Kanye goes back to his old ways after feeling guilty about losing the girl on guilt trip. “Yeezus just rose again” we begin to think that Kanye makes no growth after a relationship goes south. He is back on his high horse and starts with his toxic ego.
At this point I begin to wonder if this cycle will ever end. The song ends talking about memories and how that’s all people are at the end of the day. A very pessimistic view on the world. Kanye is once again at a low point.
Track 10: Bound 2

Kanye stays in this cycle until he luckily finds the one he needs. This song is instrumentally very different than the other songs for a reason. He starts with another story very similar to the other experiences he has with women. Treating her to trips, fun
times at bars, etc. the chorus goes “I know your tired of loving and loving with nobody to love nobody” this is where Kanye switches for the better “one good girl is worth a thousand bitches” he just wants to find someone to dedicate all his love to. “We made it to thanksgiving
