I listened to @bbc5live this morning in absolute despair.
People ringing up to say the govt has done a good job during this pandemic.
People accusing others of being doom mongers for pointing out that 100,000 people have now died.
The lack of compassion was shameful.
I don't blame the govt for Coronavirus.
I do blame the govt for their response to it.
What I want to see are difficult questions being asked of the govt because we owe that to those that have died already.
I want to see and hear scrutiny of all of their decisions.
The kind of scrutiny you applied to @JonAshworth this morning.
If you compare that interview with the interviews with govt ministers, it's alarming how the opposition, with no real power, are scrutinised more than the govt, in power.
By the govt's own measure they have turned a "good" outcome into a tragedy.
5 times as many people have died than the govt would have wanted.
By their own standards, they have utterly failed us.
To point that out isn't playing politics, it's fact.
The examples are there all around us.
They sent the kids back to school for one day.
Track and trace is a shambles.
Giving contracts to their mate's companies.
Even today, the govt will announce that ppl have to quarantine in hotels nearly a year after the pandemic started.
They can't even administer a vaccine without going against the vaccine producers own guidelines for how it should be administered.
If they get this wrong and ppl aren't properly vaccinated because they waited too long between doses, then how many vaccines will have been wasted?
I haven't even heard this question being asked of the govt.
We know why the govt wants to vaccinate more ppl more quickly but we don't how that affects the efficacy of the vaccine.
It's one hell of a risk to take.
The govt has taken risks like this all the way through.
And they have got them terribly wrong.
You don't take risks with people's lives.
The pandemic has so many variables to try and control, so when you come across certainty, ie 2 doses with in 3 weeks =90% immunity then why would you change that?
At every single step of the way govt incompetence has been apparent.
And it's simply a lie to say otherwise.
