A few thoughts after yesterday's interview....

One: we don't know they will go on a date in that same ep. They just meet.

Two: don't forget we are getting a shortened season this year, so the writers have to give us everything faster than usual. If it feels rushed, it's cause it is...

While we usually get 22/23 eps, this year we are only getting 15/16 eps. There is less time to tell the story they want to tell. It's really a blessing in disguise, at least with this storyline. The sooner we get to these 'serious complications', the sooner they will be resolved
I am sad we don't have a regular season of course, but would you rather get the angst over and done with now or have it dragged out longer? Because I would rather have my payoff sooner rather than later.
Lastly, I know a lot of you have said that this will hurt Sylvie.......

It's true. But remember Sylvie is also a strong, resilient woman. She's gonna be ok.
Also don't forget that Matt has been hurt a lot, too and we have seen more of Matt's pain than Sylvie's. Don't forget that. This hurts him just as much as it hurts Sylvie.

He wants to be with her, but he thinks it will never happen because that's basically what Sylvie told him. She wants space. He hates it, but he respects her so he's going to give it to her because he loves her that much.
But he is also sad and lonely....

So, I see this as him doing his best to move on and try his best to forget Sylvie because that is what he thinks she wants!
So, go easy on Matt. He is an idiot, yes, but that's just cause he loves her so much. He WILL fight for her.

Matt is DONE people. He is done with letting go and moving on. He's tired of being forced to let go and move on. He's going to fight for Sylvie Brett!
