#ClickZero is a campaign calling for essential online public services to be provided free for everyone

Data poverty means access to essential services isn't universal. There are millions of families in UK who are on the wrong side of the digital divide https://www.clickzero.uk/
Just like a phone call charges for minutes, when you visit a website, you pay for page access by data - you're charged by the amount of data the site needs to load

We're focusing on Zero rating essential services. It changes who shoulders the cost - from 'recipient' to 'sender'
It is spearheaded by @ChrisAshworthNT and cheered on by @xcaplin @brightkaos @peterjacobs100 and I.

Last year, we managed to ensure Government and NHS information was made free for people during the pandemic, now we want to make it permanent.

Important to note:

Zero-rating could, if misused, lead to unintended consequences. When used outside of essential public services it can distort competition+erode net neutrality. This is why #clickzero is only calling for central and local government pages to be zero-rated.
