2/6 We investigated whether there is any social hierarchy among the pride members of female Asiatic lion. We examined our hypothesis through all occurrence sampling and continuous monitoring of prides of varying sizes and recoded all the interactions among members. #AnimBehav2021
3/6 We recorded both agonistic and affiliative interactions among adult pride members along with donor and recipient of each interaction. #AnimBehav2021
4/6 Based on social network analysis our finding reveals the existence of a hierarchical structure among lionesses. The directionality and magnitude of both aggressive and affiliative interactions correlated with the hierarchical ranks of the individuals. #AnimBehav2021
5/6 A strict linear order of hierarchy was found in the small and medium-sized prides while in the larger prides the hierarchy was found to be near linear. #AnimBehav2021
6/6 Dominance was found to be age-related with older females being dominant over the younger. A strong correlation between the rank of an individual with its feeding order was found. High-ranking females gained priority at feeding sites followed by subordinates. #AnimBehav2021
