Gender can be tricky, right? When we say gender, we may alternately be referring to "gender identity" (e.g., woman, man, non-binary), "gender expression" (e.g., femininity, masculinity, fluid), or a host of other gender-related constructs.
I'm going to do a gender word of the day for the next little while and share various gender-related terms I come across as a gender researcher.
Let's start with "gender expression". Gender expression is how someone portrays their masculinity or femininity via appearance, dress, behavior, etc.
I could express masculinity by wearing traditionally masculine clothes (e.g., ball-cap, neutral colors) on Monday and express more femininity on Tuesday with a flower beard and flowing hair.
