Leicester vs Everton match notes

Overview
-By far the better side and dominated possession, Everton very resilient at the back

-both goals had an element of luck, an awkward bounce to Rodriguez who finished well and a pickford howler

-Digne OOP interesting but not nailed
First half

-leicester got off to a very bright start without testing pickford and dominated the first 20 minutes

-the rest of the first half was scrappy, lots of fouls and offsides made the game very stop start which was clearly intentional by Everton who were struggling
1-0 Everton

Digne swings and ball into no one but it bounces off Fofanas shin who otherwise had a great game, the loose ball fell to Rodriguez who produced a bit of magic to strike it home through 3 defenders, very much against the run of play
Second half

Leicester opened the pitch up more and pushed both Justin and castagne higher up, they were exerting constant pressure on Everton who dropped very deep

Tielemans grabbed the equaliser (Barnes assist) thanks to a bit of help from pickford but the goal was deserved
HARVEY BARNES

Barnes was the stand out Leicester player yesterday he was very direct and cut in centrally on multiple occasions

Image 1 Barnes gets a shot away in the box but it is pulled back for a foul

Image 2 barnes makes a run through the middle but perez can't find him
Imagine 3&4 Barnes running directly at mina who was forced to bring him down on the edge of the box
Image 5 Barnes shot saved by pickford, could have crossed but front pist area coveted

Image 6 Barnes plays Cross into dangerous area

Image 7 Barnes draws defenders to him and finds tielemans for his goal

Image 8 Barnes manages to get the ball to maddison for a big change
MADDISON

although quiter than Barnes madders had his moments

Image 1 maddison shot from outside the box, just over the bar but wasn't far from going top right corner

Image 2 maddison second dangerous freekick of the game both hit the wall which is unlike him
Image 3&4

Maddison gets a shot in the box late in the game but it is blocked by Micheal Keane who came out of nowhere
Average positions

Barnes (15) and maddison (10) were Leicesters most advanced players, perez (17) played deep as a false nine and did a lot of dirty work, we can see how central Barnes played here in the absence of vardy
Last night's game confirmed my slight preference for Barnes who I believe is a captaincy option against Leeds who will give up a lot more chances than Everton, maddison is still very much and option as an advanced 10
Finally something else I wanted to mention, for anyone considering tielemans this is how deep he played first half when they game was breaking down, he is unbelievable but will drop in deep when the team needs him
