The staff in youth centres were the heroes - they put their jobs on the line for those young people.

If you find that hard to believe - it still happens today. Carrying condoms is still used as evidence of doing sex work.

We need to do better - and decriminalise sex work.

The HIV prevention needs of people who inject drugs were consistently undermined globally.

Activists still continue to provide needle exchanges and access to safer drug use facilities. Yet authorities do all in their power to undermine this health promotion.

In the 90s lots of HIV prevention involved outreach in public toilets and parks.

Police crack downs made that work harder or impossible.

Activists posted warning sign + stuck chewing gum over police peep-holes. Arrests stopped temporarily.

It saved lives when we faced hostility and intransigence.
