would love to see a long read/analysis of how twitter, instagram and everyone having really good cameras on their phones has changed miniatures painting. it's super interesting/odd that now most of the people who see your model will see it *larger* that it is in real life
this isn't a bad thing, the internet has made many people (including me) much better painters, and the community has really accelerated their skills in the last few years. But it's interesting how, in terms of the kind of army building most people do, there's a fixation on-
-really micro stuff like how brushstrokes look, how to paint pupils, really fine freehand, as opposed to collection level stuff which is hard to photograph but really important at army-scale on the tabletop, like unified colour tone, a well chosen scheme, and so on
anyway these tweets are dedicated to anyone who does Contrast metallics, one of the coolest and easiest effects in an IRL setting that is almost impossible to take good photos of
