Comparing the golfers that ranked in the top 10% vs bottom 10% in driving distance during the 2020 PGA Tour season.

The big hitters tended to be younger, hit it ~20 yards further, swung ~12 mph faster, and gained more strokes in total, but particularly off the tee.
~50% of the short hitters gained strokes per round on the field, despite being bottom 10% in distance. They generally did this by losing less off the tee (probably via accuracy since distances were similar), and through better approach shots vs those with negative strokes gained.
85% of the big hitters had positive strokes gained total across the season. The few that lost strokes to the field were worse (on average) across all categories, but particularly lost a lot of strokes around the greens and putting.
