when kas find out that br*ke manipulated the original southern raiders script to make zuko look bad so he wouldn’t be shipped w katara & make aang look like the good guy, then i will know Peace
and listen, hot take: kas look at tsr with ‘shipping googles’ more than zks do. they use the episode to say that aang knows katara better, that the episode just proves that zk would be a toxic—when in fact, the creators changed the script so they would think that. because the og+
script had instances where zuko took care of katara and was deemed ‘too shippy’, so they HAD to go and change it. br*ke was so insecure about their ship that they did that. they were so insecure about their ship, that they ruined tsr and made it into what we known it is today. +
br*ke is the reason why tsr is all over the place. br*ke is the reason why zuko said ooc things in tsr. br*ke is the reason why tsr has such a ‘katara and zuko are in the wrong because they want revenge and aang is the good guy bc he’s preaching forgiveness’ feeling to it. +
and i’m tired of seeing kas act as if br*ke’s version of canon is the end/the only official source. like, no—i will not accept their version of tsr as canon. i will not accept that it’s canon that zuko told aang, “this isn’t airbender preschool,” because br*ke made him say that +
for the sake of making zuko, an abuse victim, look like the bad guy, when he himself didn’t want revenge against his abuser. canon is transformative, and fanworks are just as valid as the original source. if i don’t want to accept br*ke’s version of canon, then i’m not going to +
because they butchered katara’s, zuko’s and aang’s character, all because they didn’t want zk to be shipped more than their self insert ship.
sidenote: it’s so weird that br*ke self inserted themselves into a 12yo boy? what was the reason for that? i literally don’t get it? +
another hot take: if katara decided k*lling yon rha was her version of closure, then that would’ve been okay with me. i once saw a ka say something along the lines of, “why would you want katara to kill a defenseless old man?” about yon rha, and i remember reading that question +
and doing a double take. because yon rha was directly responsible for killing katara’s mother, and it wouldn’t be far fetched to say he’s killed other people from the swt. and, literally, if anyone watches tsr and deems yon rha as a ‘defenseless old man’, then they didn’t watch +
the same tsr as i did. i hate the idea that ‘the victim taking revenge is bad’—like, nah, buddy, nah. if revenge is what gives someone closure—no matter what the revenge involves—then who are you to be like, “no, that’s not right,” bc the last time i checked, you don’t dictate+
what gives someone closure or not. only the victim can say/choose what’s right for them in terms of closure—which brings me to zuko’s “you were right about what katara needed” line. it’s like, zuko, you were there during all of the conversations. you were there when katara +
confronted yon rha. it makes no sense for zuko to say that line. katara didn’t choose forgiveness with yon rha the way aang wanted her to—so, no, zuko, aang wasn’t right about that. but you know who was right about that? katara. katara chose for herself what the right thing to +
do was. katara’s more than capable of making her own decisions. she didn’t need aang’s input or zuko’s—not that zuko encouraged her one way or the other, to be honest. zuko never explicitly said what katara should and shouldn’t do. the way kas talk about zuko in tsr makes it +
seem like zuko was straight up telling katara, “yeah, kill him. do it.” but then, you watch the actual episode, and what is zuko doing while katara is actively confronting yon rha? he’s just...standing in the sidelines, watching, not telling her anything. it’s almost like he +
knew that katara can make her own choices. crazy, huh?

okay, i’ve been ranting about tsr for way too long, and i have to go. enjoy this thread tho, i guess, & feel free to add on!

remember to stan zk & elizabeth welch (she wrote the og tsr script) for clean skin! ✨✨✨
