Happy belated Data Privacy Day
while we apply pressure to govt and private entities to respect and protect our data, there are plenty of individual actions we can make too:

‣ switch to encrypted messaging. I use @signalapp (as I'm sure a lot of you already do, looking at the recent exodus from WhatsApp) and @ProtonMail for emails
‣ review https://haveibeenpwned.com/ to see if your email has been involved in a data breach. Now, stop using the same password across multiple sites (seriously, stop it.)
‣ use a password manager that can generate and store strong, unique passwords. I use @LastPass, but there are a few options: @1Password, @Bitwarden
‣ secure your password manager and other accounts with multi-factor authentication. Tools like @Authy add an extra layer of protection against password spray attacks
‣ use browser tools like @EFF's Privacy Badger to block invasive ads and analytics trackers: https://privacybadger.org/
‣ switch to @DuckDuckGo as your search engine of choice and set it to your browser default. In Firefox, it looks like this:
