2/12:Municipalities are increasing green amenities directed toward children and families as an important part of sustainable and healthy cities. But their approach is increasingly reduced to universal prescriptions for health (focusing on equipment typology or access to amenities)
3/12: However, gender, race, ethnicity, class, physical and mental abilities influences how children connect and interact with nature. Also, green amenities are a space of social relations, connections, and interactions (what the authors call "relational wellbeing")
4/12: The study aims to understand how does the political and social production of green-playful-child-friendly amenities shape relational wellbeing in different contexts? And how do those processes help refine our understanding of environmental inequities?
5/12: To do so, the authors focus on Parc Central de Nou Barris and Parc Central de Poblenou. Parc Central de Nou Barris is more un-natural and structured; while Parc Central de Poblenou is more creative, unstructured and green.

They used ethnographic and archival analyses.
6/12: Results show greater relational wellbeing in Parc Central de Nou Barris (children's free play, self-exploration, self-management of risks, diverse
social interactions, freedom of movement and environmental exploration, knowledge and control).
8/12: While in Parc Central de Poblenou, high rates of supervised play, few movements across space, a strict arrangement of the types of play, and scarce interactions with the social and material environment are found.
9/12: Moreover, the authors find that Parc Central de Nou Barris was created as part of urban transformations aiming to support the existing neighborhood social and material capital. So the production of the park was resident-centered and co-driven.
10/12: While the Parc Central de Poble Nou was produced as a commodity for the reproduction of power and capital in the restoration and new value creation of
the geography of Poble Nou and the 22@ district.
11/12: Consequently, the authors conclude that most important aspect in determining the production of relational wellbeing is the inseparably intersected socio-material structure of the neighbourhood and residents' uses of green-playful-child-friendly places.
