1/4 The importance of kindness - a short thread...
This is Ellis, final year med student @UoLmedicine
I was training him as a vaccinator for #CovidVaccine
He brought in his 1st patient, sat him down + asked
"How are you today?"
"Not so good, my sister died a week ago"...

2/4 It's so scary being observed doing a new procedure by someone with 30 yrs more experience
I held my breath, expecting him to crack on with the usual safetly checks before giving the vaccine
But he didn't....
He.....Just.....Listened
And...Then...Listened...Some ...More

3/4 After a while, the man stopped talking + they agreed to go ahead with his vaccination [which he did excellently]
I asked Ellis what speciality he was considering [please, please say "GP"]
"Geriatrics" he said
He'll be an excellent geriatrician OR a fab GP....
#TeamGP

4/4 Seeing our doctors of the future showing such kindness and compassion makes me realise that my profession is in safe hands
