the last thing in the world you should say to any academic is "if only you were running things!" like have you MET a fucking academic
lots of people need to go back to writing obscure papers nobody cares about and fighting with funding bodies after this really, it's for the best
i basically gave up getting materially involved in politics because what makes me pretty good as an academic makes me completely unfit to be in politics so it's very funny to see academics retweeting people saying "i wish you were running things!!!" like lmao come on dude
