I would like to seize the opportunity of the #AhsokaTanoDay to share how much this character means to me. Since my very first introduction to SW, I have always been fascinated by Darth Vader's presence and later, after watching the PT, by the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. As a kid
playing with his action figures, I dreamt of fighting alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Chosen One in their legendary galactic adventures. Back in 2008, TCW introduced Ahsoka Tano, the scrappy, bratty kid who was given this chance. She was 14 at the time and I was 8.
Ahsoka's vicissitudes resonated a lot with my unbriddled imagination and the stories that I used to inventing. She was a reflection of the child I was, thrown into a galactic warfare alongside my favorite SW character. Their growing relationship became the heart of TCW -
crystallizing what SW meant the most to me: stories of family and friendship woven through a space epic. Anakin and Ahsoka's brother-and-sister bond brought me some of the most emotional moments my favorite franchise ever gave me: I was as devastated as Anakin when Ahsoka left -
I shared Ahsoka's heartwrenching pain upon admitting the truth of Anakin's fall, I was moved to tears by their reunion before the battle of Coruscant.
Not only did I project myself a lot into Ahsoka as a kid but her journey in TCW contributed to define my childhood. She grew up
with me, a child eager to prove herself and impress her mentors whose innate compassion and kindness made her deeply likeable and relatable. The desire to prove herself I shared with her was then replaced with a more existential struggle as her world was turned upside down -
her beliefs brutally challenged. Such doubt echoed my own interrogations in my late teenage years as I questioned the path I should forge for myself. I got to watch the completion of her TCW journey a few days before my 20th birthday, an experience that ended up being wonderfully
cathartic and poignant. Now, I relate more with her mentor role and her struggles with teaching and transmitting her experiences, values and failures.
To some extent, Ahsoka Tano is a part of me, a part I deeply cherish. Thank you @Ashley_Eckstein and @rosariodawson for bringing
her to life ! I am beyond thrilled for her live action series. May the Force be with you, forever.
