So I re-watched the original Disney Beauty & the Beast and for the first time I saw it through quite critical eyes.

So, questions:
1. Narrator tells us that the rose will wilt by the Beast's 21st year, and that many years passed after the intial tranformation
"10 yrs we've been rusting" according to Lumiere. So the prince was like 11 when he turned the sorceress away? Where were his parents and guardians?!
2. If it HAS been 10 years then how the frick is Chip (who is about what, 5 or 6 yrs old) alive/a tea-cup? Did Mrs Potts mate with the dinnerware?!
3. The distance between the village and the castle? Each time someone went back and forth it changed from being like half a day to like an hour. And if it was so close and it had been enchanted for 10 yrs then why weren't there rumours and legends about the creepy castle already?
Other gripes include how the bookseller ever makes any money; Belle's annoying attitude to the Baker who doesn't have time to talk books when, unlike her, the man has a living to make;
4. BRILLIANTLY SPOTTED BY @AmyBridePhD that this also raises questions regarding the slashed portrait Belle finds of pre-transformation Beast in the West Wing which still looks just like him even though loads of time is meant to have passed.
