People jumping on Abigail Thorne’s Trump tweet and the people jumping on those people can teach us something right now. We seem to be frustrated by and yet stuck in this cycle of reflexively lashing out at any perceived wrong we see on here
Was there information to indicate Abigail was a trans woman? No not really, so I understand why members of the trans community and their allies perceived her as a cis man. Is it still probably right to consider deleting a shitty comment if you left one? Yes, probably
Even if you think what Abigail said was still wrong - which I understand some do - this type of assumption riddled dog piling we see on this platform is really bad for our mental health. For those receiving AND participating.
Trust me, when people have 25-50% of the information or 85% made up information and are coming at you in the 100s - it’s pretty awful and no amount of money, stuff, or IRL social safety net makes it remotely close to an okay experience.
And those “wokescolds”? Well they were lashing out bc of legitimate pain and discrimination they experience and directly responding to them and rubbing in how wrong you think they were doesn’t really demonstrate to them a better way to handle situations
So - you’re not really helping either. Now you’re just shit talking too. We will see the most change in respectful behavior on here when we lead by example
I know y’all think this is cheesy but you also know I’m right.
I should probably include the reason I’m saying all this is because I have been in Abigail’s position..A LOT. This might seem weird if you don’t know me but if you do...well you understand what I’ve been through. Hateful back and forth never makes anything better, only worse.
