I am a Preacher’s Kid.
My father was a United Methodist Minister. He was a big follower of the Reverend Dr. MLK, Jr. Dr. King was a huge reason my father pursued a career in the ministry. Dr. King inspired also him to get his own doctorate.

My father was at the I Have A Dream speech. He was a huge advocate of Civil Rights and even led a silent protest for the desegregation of the Methodist church. Silent bc it was dangerous to do this in South GA.
As a student in seminary, he used the college church’s bus to take inner city black ppl to Social Services so they could get the welfare and food stamps that they needed. The church was furious with him for using their bus. It was hell to pay.
At one point, the FBI was watching him bc of all of his Civil Rights protesting (my mom warned me that I might find myself on the same list bc of Twitter LMAO

I was fortunate enough to be exposed to other countries, as I lived with my mom in Costa Rica for months at a time as she had done missionary work there.
I was fortunate to be a part of the exchange program in college, so I spent a semester in Newcastle, England.

I went to Catholic school for a few years. I can verify that nuns are scary. It was funny hearing them refer to my dad as “father”. I still have some Catholic friends from that time period. Yeah they eat paper at mass.
I was scolded for going up for communion as a Protestant and the priest couldn’t be bothered to listen to my confessions.
They told me animals had no souls so they couldn’t go to heaven. In contrast, my father did St. Francis Blessing of the Animals services.

I have a bookcase dedicated to spirituality. Everything from the Bible to Buddhism to the Koran. A little pagan thrown in.
I have had awesome friends from all walks of life. All kinds of ethnicities, religious backgrounds, personalities, etc. I also work w special needs kids.
