For everyone offering to listen to victims of harassment, abuse, etc. in beer- what do you plan to do with that information? Not trying to be snarky, I’m genuinely curious. For your own personal list of places to not support? To expose the behavior? To support victims? To listen?

We NEED to listen. We NEED to be aware. But journalists often can’t do much without requiring victims to go public with their trauma, which (very understandably) many people don’t want to go. Often, the best I can do is hold onto it, make personal purchasing choices, and share...
In “whisper network” type convos (that route virtually every marginalized person knows about & relies on for safety). My inbox is ALWAYS open, and I do what I can when I can. But if you’re opening yourself up as an ear, think about what you can tangibly do to protect & believe.
Sometimes people in media can expose this atrocious behavior like Founders, like BLVD, etc. Often, we can’t. But let’s be honest about what we CAN do. Hopefully we can collectively move from mostly listening to being able to speak freely without fear. 🤞🏻
I feel obliged to say this is absolutely not a subtweet, just a reminder that we should all evaluate our motivations before asking people to share their trauma.
I’ve had so, SO many people hit me up for info about shitty people/places, and then turn around and keep supporting them bc they’re “too cool to not go to.” Now I’m just a little wary when people ask for the hot gossip with zero plans to do anything about it.
