My parents made a salad, but realized we were out of dressing. My parents offered to run out to the store, but he said not to worry, he’d take care of it. So he walked down the street to McDonalds and picked up a few packs of dressing and brought them back...
I dunno. Something about the subtle humility of that moment has always stuck with me. He was only a few years older than me, had just been selected as the #1 pick in the NBA Draft, and just casually popped into the McDonalds in my neighborhood to snag some gratis dressing.
