2019 - The most important year in British hip hop
For years British hip hop had been living in the shadow of the US's but in 2019 Brittan showed that it could not only compete with the US but arguably had a better year. Throughout 2019 the Brittan produced a variety of albums showing the skill and diversity in Uk rap
Dave - in 2019 dave released his debut studio psychodrama which debuted at number 1 and had all three singles reach the top 10 on uk billboard. The album would go onto win a mercury reward and Aoty at the Brit awards. Dave also mad God's eye and professor X for the top boy.
Stormzy - Despite already establishing himself as one of the best grime artists in the game in 2017 with gang signs and prayers 2019 was a massive year for stormzy who would release heavy is the head which showed his talents outside of grime and would go number 1 as well.
Slowthai - The Northampton rapper would burst onto the scene in 2019 he was still an mostly unknown rapper until his release Nothing Great about Brittan which was met with critical acclaim upon its release. Slowthai's unique voice and rapping style quickly made him into a star.
Skepta - A rapper who was all ready considered one of the greats before 2019 cemented his place at the top of the English rap game with his release Ignorance is bliss. He also his incredible feature run in 2019 with features on Kiss and Tell, Inglorious and Back to basics.
Headie One - After getting out of prison and using music to get a better life Headie released his mixtape Music x Road and a joint mixtape with RV. After the hype of the Know better in 2018 Headie showed he was one of the best in the Drill scene in 2019.
Aj Tracey - in 2019 Aj released his debut s/t album which would later get a deluxe. Aj who had been known as a hitmaker prior to this with songs such as Thiago Silva and Quarterback really showed his talent on this album which featured the song Ladbroke Grove which is Uk anthem.
