A brief health PSA thread from me:

I am a healthy, young, fit 33-year-old man. Two months ago, I had COVID-19. I got over it easily. But now, for the last two weeks, my heart has not been functioning exactly as designed.
What is occurring with my heart is called "frequent premature ventricular contractions." It means one of my ventricles is firing at the wrong time, which gives my heart a weird, uneven rhythm.
It doesn't hurt but I am constantly aware of it, like listening to a song where the drummer is always off beat. The other night, it concerned me enough to go to urgent care. I've since seen a cardiologist.
It might be a sign of something more serious and it might not be. It's rare for someone my age. Over the next month -- a delay caused by annoying insurance requirements -- I'll have tests done to find out what's going on.
I'll probably be OK, but it has freaked me out at points. I worry about something happening while I'm alone watching my daughter. I've had to pull myself out of some dark thoughts. The night I went to urgent care was the first time I legitimately considered my own mortality.
It's probably not that serious, more just where your mind goes when confronted with a new health issue. This will all probably work out fine. And I'm not writing this for sympathy. I want to offer a warning to those who are still, after nearly a year, taking COVID-19 lightly.
Two months ago, I might have had the fewest risk factors of anybody on the planet. I caught COVID, I got past it quickly and moved on. But now something is going on with my heart that wasn't before.

Don't assume being young and healthy means you're invulnerable.
