Thread: For those new to #SBC, let me encourage you about the @ERLC & @drmoore w/ historic context.
Preface: I worked for both Moore (5 yrs) & @rdland (12 yrs), & I remain fond of both. Baptists should be more aware of their shared & recent history.

• At least 4 of the @SBCExecComm "concerns" (or variations of them) were also aimed at Land, Moore's predecessor. (image) I personally engaged constituents on these or similar disinformation during my employment.
• I recall attempt(s?) to defund ERLC during Land's tenure.

• The EC's own report shows @SBCCP giving was decreasing when Land was leading ERLC & "opposing" then-candidate/president Obama. (image)
• The decrease was far more dramatic than the current drop we all are concerned about.
• The EC did not "review" the ERLC during this time.

• As Land has said on many occasions, prior to his own hire to lead the org in '88 he supported defunding the then-Christian Life Commission (CLC) when it was led by Foy Valentine and was, in fact, "leftward."

Lastly, the @SBCExecComm report fails to provide evidence that the @ERLC is out of step with decisions & resolutions of Southern Baptist messengers who participate in the Annual Meeting, including @rdland who as messenger defended ERLC against the 2018 failed defunding attempt.
Without tangible evidence of distance b/t the ERLC and the formal, repeated, messenger decisions, the EC report appears to be an attempt to thwart the will of fellow Southern Baptists who faithfully travel to and participate in our polity.
