I want to make a thread about the Greek revolution of 1821 to debunk the lies and false narrative that’s been spread.

Many people (usually Turks) think that it was won because of European powers intervening however this can be debunked very quickly
There were about 30 major battles, 10 sieges and 10 naval battles between the Greek revolutionaries and the combined Ottoman Turkish, Albanian, Egyptian, Tunisian and Algerian armies.
The Greek fighters were constantly outnumbered, less supplied and much less armoured than the Ottoman forces
The Greeks had been fighting the Turks with many victories for 6 years, however now the Turks called upon the powerful Egyptian ruler Muhammad Ali of Egypt to assist them in defeating the Greeks.
In response, Greek diplomats in the West and Russia sought to receive support (naval support and weapons) from the major powers. Initially most countries were against the idea of a free Greece, however many Phil-Ellines inspired by the Greek courage told stories back to the West
Eventually, allied forces came in 1827 (Battle of Navarino) to defeat the Egyptian and Turkish navy. What is important to mention is that the crew that were managing these allied ships were Greek and fighting for a Greek cause, the same way Egyptians fought for Turks years before
Therefore, outnumbered but distinguished and brave Greeks fought with courage against the much larger Ottoman forces with consistent victories all the way from Wallachia, to Alexandria, Egypt. The Greek revolution then also lead other nations in the empire to feel inspired
