1/9 I know that sometimes it's easy to be a bit flippant with the discourse around gender ID stuff, eg w/some of the dumb pronoun points, but this really is the harrowing, sharp end of the stick when it comes to recognising the reality of female oppression https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-55794071
2/9 "Women in China's "re-education" camps for Uighurs have been systematically raped, sexually abused, and tortured" - there is no getting away from the fact that, for millennia, men have known exactly *who* to oppress and exploit based on biological material reality.
3/9 Susan Brownmiller phrased this as an "anatomical fiat", where the physical construction of male vs female genitals is the underlying basis for why men are able to rape, and why women are subjected to it.
4/9 There is no "identifying out of" men's ability to discern exactly who they are physically able to exploit, abuse, and destroy. It is predicated on a physical reality that we can all see, feel, touch, and sense right in front of us.
5/9 By reducing this to vague notions of identity, this is to remove the very tangible reason why this systematic violence occurs.
6/9 It is ironic that gender ideology proponents often accuse us of being "ethnocentric" or "privileged", imposing our "Western binary view of sex on other cultures".
7/9 I say this because it is the zenith of ethnocentrism and privilege to reduce the horrors of female exploitation in far flung corners of the world down into issues of simply being the wrong "identity". The natural implication is that these individuals could simply have
8/9 "identified out of" their exploitation. It is the worst type of academic pontification, that removes culpability from male exploiters, and effectively victim-blames subjugated women for not utilising a "get out clause".
9/9 I loathe that the conversation is so removed from reality. It is despicable that male violence against WOMEN has been reduced down into something one can identify in and out of. Holding men responsible means being able to define WHO they are committing these acts against /end
