The largest influencer from GOP-MAGA/Q-Anon twitter that impacted the rest of twitter was the Hill, a paper known for laundering Trump’s messages as news for money. This is why things got so fuct up imho.
I’m being quite serious. Cutting edge research published in Nature & just tweeted about today identified The Hill as the single largest influencer on political twitter coming from a cluster of accounts that included those that were banned when Trump was banned for Q-content. IOW,
the nomological and semantic net for Q-Anon conspiracy theories, bot amplifiers, etc includes The Hill which is the single largest general twitter influencer from that nomological and semantic net. The Hill is the 3rd most tweeted account overall on twitter.
Thus, its reach & impact in connection to driving media content, framing, coverage, etc. everywhere cannot be easily overstated. The influence of mere exposure effects (just seeing ‘Hill’ headlines) on attitudes & behaviors of individuals can also not be easily overstated,
That the owner of The Hill hired John Solomon from 2017-2019 to incorporate paid ads from the Trump team into news stories is therefore a very significant factor in understanding the environmental influences leading up to 1/6. Further, other, even closer ties exist between
the Hill’s owner & the Trump admin. Thus, a purportedly “moderate” framing of reality actually reflected views that have been shown to be empirically linked to banned Q-Anon accounts.
The Hill’s purportedly “moderate” framing of reality was actually the framing that Trump et al. directly paid for.
There was a conspiracy between Trump & The Hill to change attitudes & behavior of individuals in a direction that ultimately led to 1/6.
